Because It's in the Music

In this time, I was thinking a lot about the shapes of relationships, about the function of memory in maintaining relationships.

I had been chewing on the Adventure Time series finale where Rebecca Sugar's song, Time Adventure, taught me that, "Time is an illusion that helps things make sense / so we are always living in the present tense. / It seems unforgiving when a good thing ends, / but you and I will always be back then."

I took the idea and imagery from my last Robyn video and imagined it expanded. Instead of walled tunnels connecting us, there's just... space between us. The blanket fort is washed and hanging on the line and Helen of Boy dances through the memories, the connections, reflections, and is carried by the music to past moments of her life.

This video was made for a Haute Glue drag show RIGHT at the start of Covid lockdown.
